About the Instructor
Andrew Gutmann is a founder and Senior Instructor of the Institute. He has been teaching classes on corporate finance and investment banking for several years and is also currently an Adjunct Career Advisor at Columbia Business School in New York. Andrew is also the author of the website IBankingFAQ (www.ibankingfaq.com)
Andrew was previously a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of HSBC where he executed buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions and marketed other advisory services to companies in a number of sectors including consumer/retail, industrials, and financial services. While at HSBC, Andrew was very actively involved in both on-campus and lateral recruiting and also participated in the firm's technical standardization efforts.
Prior to HSBC, Andrew was an Investment Banking Associate for three years with Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin, where he focused on restructuring and financial advisory services. While at Houlihan, Andrew helped to execute debtor and creditor-side restructurings as well as distressed M&A transactions, fairness and solvency opinions.
Andrew has also participated in several entrepreneurial ventures including as the CEO and co-founder of Annabelle Joule, a New York based apparel wholesaler. Andrew was also Chief Financial Officer of Intronis Technologies, a venture capital funded technology firm, and spent two years as a Research Assistant at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve in Washington, DC.
Andrew earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA with Honors from The Johns Hopkins University.
